Here's a true story about a guy I met in Philly last week.

"Medium Popcorn" by JP Stanley

I recently met a bitchin' artist named JP Stanley. He told me all this crap I never knew I wanted to know about art, and in return I marveled at a pretty stunning collection of pantings and sketches he'd been producing. Also, I broke his computer for 24 hours. As a result, he said if there's any one of his works that I liked, I should ask him for it. I said I'd get back to him.

Later that day, JP approached me and said in his hybrid British-Florida accent, "I think I've found the piece for you." I followed him to his studio and he presented me with Medium Popcorn, a postcard-sized opus he'd done while working at a movie theatre almost ten years ago. "That's me, and the stripes are based on our medium popcorn bag, but they also represent prison bars."

I felt at this point I should let him in on my secret: "Um, I make a comic about this."

JP Stanley, ladies and gentlemen.
